Frequently Asked Orthodontic Questions – Tucker, GA
Ask Your Orthodontic Experts
As you can imagine, our team receives a lot of questions every day, and we love it! Nothing makes us happier than educating people about orthodontics so they can better understand their care and feel more confident about starting treatment. Below, we’ve gone ahead and answered some of our most popular questions. If there is anything else you’d like to ask, don’t hesitate to give us a call.
What is an orthodontist?
An orthodontist is a type of dental specialist, similar to how a cardiologist is a medical specialist. Dr. Barfield and Dr. Kim attended multi-year residencies after graduating from dental school that were solely dedicated to shifting the teeth and fixing bite problems, giving them valuable experience in this specific type of care. Additionally, they have been fellowship trained in clear aligner therapy.
Why should I see an orthodontist instead of a general dentist?
Orthodontists not only have more experience straightening the teeth and bite compared to general dentists, but they are also able to better personalize their care to each patient while offering more options. All of this together leads to a smoother treatment experience, shorter timeline, and better results for the patient.
Do I need a referral to see an orthodontist?
While many of our patients are referred to us by their general dentist, you can go ahead and schedule an appointment with us directly if you believe you or your child could benefit from orthodontic care.
When should I bring my child to an orthodontist for the first time?
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that a child should receive an orthodontic screening around 7-years old, though you can bring your child to see us sooner if they have obviously crooked teeth, a misaligned bite, or still suck their thumb past the age of 4.
Will you accept my dental insurance?
Most likely yes! Duo Orthodontics is willing to accept any dental insurance plan that offers orthodontic coverage, and we’re in-network with several popular providers, so we’re able to offer big savings to most patients. To learn how we could use your particular plan, give us a call.
Can I finance my orthodontic care?
Yes! We offer our own in-house financing, which allows patients to break up the cost of their care into smaller installments with little-to-no interest. Financing can even be extended beyond the end of treatment. We’re always willing to work with a patient to ensure they can afford their care, and to learn more about our financing options, give us a call today.
